Allah wants to hear your dua

Allah says:

“When my worshippers ask you (O Muhammad) about me, indeed I am near. I respond to the one who calls out to me, so let them respond to me (by obedience) and believe in me so they may be rightly guided.”

[Al-Baqarah 2:186]

This verse shows us the beauty and benefit of dua. Allah is telling us to call out to Him, for verily He is close and He responds. As you make dua, have conviction that Allah hears you. Allah is close to you. Allah will respond to you.

Nothing is too big or impossible for Allah. He loves the believers, those who obey his commandments. He loves those who ask Him. Never lose hope in the mercy and power of Allah.

As you strive to get your dua accepted, remember to obey Allah and follow his commandments. Stay away from His prohibitions. Notice how he ends off the verse by saying; “respond to me (with obedience) and believe in me.”

Your good deeds may be a reason for your dua being closer to acceptance.

As you make dua, don’t forget to ask Allah for every form of goodness in this world and the next.

Summary

One of the best ways to develop your relationship with Allah is through dua. Call out to Him with conviction, acknowledging His majesty. Get to know Him through His great names and attributes and be amazed at the peace and tranquility you experience as well as the amazing benefits that come your way.

Ponder Over The Verse

'‘In their hearts is a disease and Allah increased their disease…” (2:10)

Reflection

The heart is afflicted by different ailments and diseases. When they are left, they make the heart worse and a person may be unable to differentiate between right and wrong.

Purify your heart

Travelling By Land And Sea For Business

In the chapter of Buying And Selling, Imam Al Bukhari R.A puts a subheading titled “Going out (travelling for business)”. He then says, Allah says, “Spread out in the land and seek out the virtue of Allah.”

Ibn Al Munayyir R.A (One of the famous commentators of Sahih Al Bukhari) says, the reason he mentions this heading is to show the permissibility to travel for business even if the distance is far.

He then mentions a long hadith of Umar R.A where he was unaware of an islamic ruling and he mentions the reason by saying; “I was occupied with business dealings in the marketplace. i.e travelling for business”

He then mentions the subheading of “Business at sea” and it’s permissibility by mentioning a hadith of a man from Banu Israeel.

What we deduce from this is, It is permissible for a muslim to travel for business even if it requires traversing the land, the sea and in our times, the air too, regardless of the distance.

With the correct intention this also becomes and act of worship

Summary

The people from the very beginning of time travelled for business and to seek out the provision of Allah.

Practise Upon A Sunnah

The Messenger ﷺ said

“When a person enters their house and mentions the name of Allah when entering and before eating, Shaytan says, “we have no place to stay and no food to eat” (Muslim)

This hadith encourages one to take the name of Allah when entering and before eating to prevent Shaytan staying with him and partaking from his food. This is as simple as saying “Bismillah” (In the name of Allah)

Israa and Mi’raaj

After the passing of the beloved wife of The Messenger ﷺ as well as his uncle and the torture of Quraysh as well as the people of Taif, Allah honoured the Messenger ﷺ by taking him on a miraculous journey Of Israa and Mi’raaj.

The Messenger ﷺ was taken from Makkah to Masjid Al Aqsa and then ascended to the heavens. He saw many things on this journey, however the most important reason for this journey was for him to receive the salah (5 daily prayers).

He was returned to Makkah in the same night.

This Salah is a gift to us as the Ummah of Muhmmad ﷺ . Notice how it came after difficulty, torture and hardship. It’s a direct connection between the slave and Allah.

The Messenger ﷺ would love salah so much so he would say, “the coolness of my eyes has been put in salah.”

Lesson

As a believer, never ever neglect your salah. It’s a direct connection between you and Allah and was given as a gift to The Prophet ﷺ and this Ummah.

My Thought

I was thinking about “constants and variants” in planning especially on a longer time frame. In simpler terms, a lot of us plan life based on what we believe will remain constant, not realising that there is a great possibility it’ll change.

E.g A Person plans how they will save money for 10 years in order to buy a house, not realising they may lose the job, etc etc

While it is important to plan and try our best, it’s equally important to realise that circumstances carry on changing.

This could be due to a change in your own health, family life, financial status or something external such as geopolitical factors.

Hence, you will always find yourself needing to adjust and recalibrate. It’s an unavoidable part of life.

Don’t be too rigid in your planning such that you’re caught short sighted when the goal post changes and don’t be too flimsy that you’re easily swayed by the slightest bit of uncertainty.

Question : How do I learn Arabic

Answer: Alhamdulilah, it’s great that you’re interested in learning Arabic.

Firstly, Ask yourself, '‘Why do I want to learn Arabic?” Is it to study classical texts or just to speak with others or maybe you’re moving to an arab country. By answering this question you will be able to shorten your path to learning.

Secondly, there are basics which are unavoidable depending on what you want. A person wanting to study will need to learn how to read and write. If you’re only interested in learning how to read Quran, then learning how to read only would suffice. etc

Thirdly, what’s your timeframe? not everybody has the privilege of taking out a few months or a year to move to a foreign country in order to learn nor can everybody afford to do that.

So, in a nutshell, look at your situation. What do you require and importantly how much time are you going to give yourself and whether or not it is financially feesible to move to another country or enrol in an institute or maybe take a course online.

Whatever the case may be, a good place to start will be some of the free resources on youtube as well as web pages. From there you will be able to guage what would be next for you.

I’ve had a lot of requests to resume teaching arabic. In sha Allah it is something I will be considering next year. If you’re interested you can reply to this email and whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to learn spoken arabic, or grammar etc.

If you found this beneficial, I would be grateful if you could share it with others and encourage them to subscribe

If you have any general feedback, i would love to hear it. You can reply directly to this email.

See You Next Week إن شاء الله
