(025) The Last Newsletter of 2024

This edition will be slightly different

Assalamualykum

I hope and pray that you and your loved ones are in the best of health and Imaan.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for subscribing to the newsletter. May Allah bless you. I hope it has been a source of benefit.

As 2024 comes to an end and I have mainly been focused on assessing the previous year as well as planning for the coming year, I thought it would be of benefit to share some insights with regards to this newsletter, how it began, how it has evolved with the help of Allah and thereafter your direct input as a subscriber as well as some of the many questions asked by the readers.

Inspiration

As a student in Madinah, I remember our Sheikh encouraging us to read books, especially those of the scholars closest to the period of prophethood. He would tell us to mark the benefits found in these books and make our own table of contents on the inside cover, while always reminding us that we would eventually graduate and become busy, however we would come back later on and use these benefits that we once read and made a note of. As I read through some of the books of tafsir, my favourite being Ibn Jarir as well as the books of hadith, particularly Sahih Al bukhari, I found myself coming across many topics I didn’t know existed in Islamic literature.

Eventually, I started keeping small notes in Google Documents, with reference, hoping to eventually share these benefits one day in life.

First Publication

Alhamdulilah, during 2024, I started thinking of the best possible way to share these benefits in written form. I wanted to speak about Classical Islamic principles from a Contemporary lens. This thought gave birth to what you are reading now.

In May of this year 2024, I sent out my first article of the newsletter to roughly 200 people. I received a lot of feedback and suggestions and slowly tried to improve. Fast forward to today, we have 24 articles and a family of roughly 4000 readers. Alhamdulilah.

My Goal

My goal behind this newsletter is to get the reader to be able to connect with revelation and to understand that the answers to the most complex topics are found within the guidance given to us by Allah.

Highlights

Alhamdulilah, I personally have benefitted greatly from putting this newsletter together. The 2 Highlights that stand out for me are:

1) Reading the feedback from yourselves, the readers. I’ll share an email I received last week.

2) The ability to sit down and block out time to research. It reminds me of my student days in Madinah, going to the books of commentary to research rulings, meanings of words etc. Even though it takes time, it’s an amazing feeling.

Struggles

I usually block out an hour or two on a Sunday to write out this newsletter. However at times, mainly due to travel I have missed sending out an article. To all those who anticipate the newsletter every Sunday, please forgive me.

Goals for 2025

  • With regards to the newsletter, I hope to improve it. I’m open to your suggestions. Feel free to reply directly to this email

  • We’ve also started building a community for those interested in increasing their Islamic knowledge with like minded individuals, or just looking for a good online space with Islamic Values to be apart of. This is where I will be spending a lot of my time in sha Allah. You can join by clicking the link below.

  • In sha Allah, I plan on hosting a lot more virtual events as well as meetups. Infact we just finished our Virtual event “Unlock Your Potential, How To Plan A Successful 2025” a few hours ago. In case you missed it, you can click here to watch

Once again, I’d like to thank you and I make dua that Allah bless us all and grant us the best in this world and the next.

If you find this newsletter beneficial, I would appreciate if you could share the link below with your friends so they can sign up

See You Next Week إن شاء الله
