Be Straightforward

Allah says:

“…Enter the houses from their doors and have taqwa of Allah so you may be successful…”

[Al-Baqarah 2:189]

After dismissing some of the superstitions the people had with regards to re-entering their houses from the side/back while in a state of ihram, Allah orders them to enter the houses from their doors.

This verse is meant literally and some scholars have also derived a deeper meaning by stating, we should not beat around the bush when pursuing something.

We should approach the right people/ go through the right channels and avoid going round in circles for no reason.

Notice how Allah ends the verse by saying, those who have taqwa will be successful.

Summary

Be God-fearing, straightforward and sincere and watch how Allah opens your doors

Ponder Over The Verse

'‘If you are in doubt of what we have sent down to our slave then bring a chapter similar to it, and call your associates besides Allah, if you are truthful.” (2:23)

Reflection

One of the miracles of the Quran is, it challenges the reader to try to find fault in it, or bring something similar. This challenge alone has caused many to accept the message.

Selling Haram Inventory Without Using It

Aisha R.A said:

“When the last verses of Surah Al-Baqarah about Interest were revealed, The Messenger recited them in the masjid, then he prohibited the selling of wine” [Bukhari]

When explaining this hadith the scholars mention that wine/alcohol was prohibited before interest was prohibited. The question then arises, Why did Aisha R.A say, “then he prohibited the selling of wine.

Some say

  • This was to show that in the same way interest was prohibited, so was wine

  • Others say, the consumption of wine was first prohibited whereas buying and selling was still allowed. Thereafter this hadith shows that consumption as well as buying/selling of wine/alcohol became prohibited.

  • A third opinion is, consuming wine as well as buying/selling were prohibited at the same time, However the person narrating the hadith probably heard this ruling (of buying and selling wine) for the first time, hence they mentioned it.

From this hadith, we learn that a muslim should not be buying and selling alcohol even if they do not consume it.

Summary

Make sure the inventory you’re selling is not haraam, even if you don’t use the actual haraam goods.

The Hijrah

As muslims slowly started migrating to Madinah, eventually the order of Allah came to The Messenger ﷺ for him to migrate as well.

This journey is filled with many incidents and countless lessons.

To summarise,

The Messenger ﷺ informed Abu Bakr R.A that he had been permitted to undertake the hijrah. Abu bakr R.A who was the best person after the prophets, was chosen by Allah to undertake this journey with The Messenger ﷺ.

Abu Bakr R.A prepared the transport and provisions and they set off. They were pursued by Quraysh. There was a bounty placed on their heads.

Allah describes them together in the cave as they fled for their lives. The Messenger ﷺ tells Abu Bakr R.A “Don’t be sad, Allah is with us,” (9:40)

Allah helped them and kept them hidden from Quraysh and protected them from those who pursued them until they reached Madinah.

Lesson

As you live your life and go through difficulty, remember that the best of creation went through much more.

There are certain obstacles in your life that you have to overcome before you attain success

My Thought:

Alhamdulilah, it’s been a very busy few weeks. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to write due to travel and I’m not the type of person who schedules posts in advance. lol

I visited several countries and one of the things I learnt is the more you interact with others, you find that generally people are well intended.

Sometimes they may have certain bad qualities, habits that we don’t agree with etc, however the more you dig deeper you start to understand why they are the way they are.

You develop empathy, a sort of understanding and at times you even feel a sense of pity for them. They don’t know life any other way except the one way they’ve experienced it. Do you expect them to be any different?

Next time you find an unreasonable person, understand, they probably weren’t born like that, but rather it was circumstance and the difficult experiences they went through that probably shaped the way they are. Thank Allah for what He has given you.

I heard somebody say, “To understand is To Forgive”

What they meant was, try to truly understand people, what caused them to be the way they are and you’ll be able to look at them with empathy and forgive their shortcomings, (most of the time).

Question : Can a woman read taraweeh at home alone if she is unable to go to the masjid

Answer: A woman is allowed to read taraweeh at home if she is unable to go to the masjid. In fact it is highly encouraged.

The same goes for a man who may have been unable to read taraweeh in the masjid, they are encouraged to read at home.

If you found this beneficial, I would be grateful if you could share it with others and encourage them to subscribe

If you have any general feedback, i would love to hear it. You can reply directly to this email.
