How to attain the love of Allah

Allah says:

“…Do Good, For Verily Allah Loves The Good-doers…”

[Al-Baqarah 2:195]

The believer who ponders over this verse is filled with so many different feelings. Feelings of encouragement, comfort, strength, happiness and more.

The rewards for the good-doers are many, ranging from inner-peace, multiplication of reward, goodness in this world and the next...

However let’s look at the reward mentioned in this verse. “Allah loves the good-doers.”

Imagine attaining the love of The Creator, The Most-Merciful, The King of Kings, The One whom everything belongs to, The One whom we will all return to, The One whom We’ve submitted to.

Surely that is the dream of every single one of us and here Allah says, do good deeds, obey Allah, spend for His sake and you will attain this.

Summary

Every time you feel lazy to do a good deed or someone talks you out of it, remember that Allah loves the good-doers

Ponder Over The Verse

'‘If you are in doubt of what we have sent down to our slave then bring a chapter similar to it, and call your associates besides Allah, if you are truthful. If you are unable to, and you will never be able to ..” (2:23-24)

Reflection

One of the miracles of the Quran is, Allah tells us what will happen in the future with certainty. After challenging those who reject the Quran to bring something similar, He says, “and you will never be able to..” This challenge has stood the test of time and the certainty and confidence in these Quranic verses can never come from a human being. Rather they are from The One and Only, who is Allah Almighty.

Can I gift a gift that somebody gave me?

Abdullah ibn Umar R.A said:

“We were on a journey with The Messenger and I was riding a fast camel which belonged to Umar R.A. It would overpower me and run to the front and Umar would reprimand it and bring it back. The Messenger ﷺ told Umar, “Sell it to me,” and he replied, “It’s for you O Messenger of Allah”, He repeated, “Sell it to me” and he sold it. The Messenger ﷺ then said, “It is for you O Abdullah ibn Umar, Do whatever you want with it.” [Bukhari]

From this hadith we learn:

  • The children of the companions accompanied their fathers as well as The Messenger ﷺ on different journeys.

  • The skill and training passed onto the younger generation as Abdullah ibn Umar rode alone on the camel. Every time it overpowered him, his father helped to bring it back

  • The generosity of the Companions, as they would give us anything for The Messenger ﷺ

  • The Fairness of The Messenger ﷺ when doing the deal as he insisted on buying the camel

  • It is permissible for the person who buys something and completes the deal to gift it to somebody else immediately.

  • The generosity of The Messenger ﷺ and his close connection to the younger generation.

Sometimes people give gifts or sell products and insist that the gift/product should never be sold or given to anybody else. This is incorrect Islamically and such a condition does not stand. Once a gift has been given or the product bought, the person is free to do as they wish as The Messenger ﷺ told Abdullah ibn Umar R.A, “It is for you O Abdullah ibn Umar, Do whatever you want with it.”

Summary

Once you own something, you can do whatever you please with it as long as it is Islamically permissible.

The First Infrastructure Built In Madinah

Upon arriving in Madinah, one of the first things The Messenger  did was build his Masjid that we know today as Masjid An-Nabawi (The Prophets Mosque).

The land upon which the masjid was built belonged to two orphan boys. In some narrations they wanted to give it for free, however The Messenger ﷺ insisted on paying for it and a price was agreed.

The Messenger ﷺ and the Companions built the masjid together. There were those who helped gather material and there were those who did the actual building. One of the companions who was skilled in building was Talq ibn Ali R.A, and he mentions how they built the masjid. (Ahmad)

Another companion, Ammaar ibn Yaasir R.A was also one of the most eager. While people would bring one brick at a time, he would bring two at a time and The Messenger ﷺ said, “for the people is an individual reward and for you is a double reward.”

The building took roughly 12 days and thereafter The Messenger ﷺ built the houses of his wives (Aisha R.A and Sawdah R.A) which were situated next to the masjid.

Lesson

The Ummah from the time of The Messenger ﷺ until the day of judgement requires skilled people with different expertise. Offer your unique skill and make the world a better place

My Thought:

Alhamdulilah, we’ve entered the last 10 nights of Ramadan. As time passes quickly, use this as an opportunity to do as many good deeds as possible, especially those that will outlive you.

I was thinking about it the other day. As important as it may be to live a decent life, earn, provide for yourself and your family, what is it that truly lives on after you pass?

I mean all your possessions will be distributed after you die, the people will forget about you, even those who were the closest, everything and everyone will carry on while you remain in the grave.

Nothing will benefit except your deeds. The masjid you built or contributed to building, the water projects that carry on providing for people, the knowledge you taught to others etc.

Any good deed big or small is all that’ll benefit. Nothing else.

If you found this beneficial, I would be grateful if you could share it with others and encourage them to subscribe

If you have any general feedback, i would love to hear it. You can reply directly to this email.

See You Next Week إن شاء الله
